Why is combed cotton better than regular cotton?

Combed cotton is used for high-quality fabrics. Before spinning the yarn used in the socks, regular cotton is combed to filter out the shorter fibers and debris, leaving only the longest, strongest and smoothest fibers.

Combed cotton is less likely to fray, unravel, or tear. It is more durable, smoother, cleaner, and stronger than uncombed cotton. It’s also great for people with sensitive skin since those pesky short and prickling fibers are removed during combing.
